AT&T Wi-Fi Passpoint

AT&T Wi-Fi Passpoint helps you connect to Wi-Fi hotspots without having to think about your netwok safety because it automatically connect to more secured Passpoint-certified Wi-Fi networks that uses WPA2/WPA3 and 802.1x so you can ensure a secure connection. This technology is mostly implemented in 40 Boingo airports. Boingo’s Passpoint-certified networks is available to AT&T subscribers and they do not have to pay extra cost.

How to connect to AT&T Wi-Fi Passpoint?

You can connect to a WiFi passpoint whether you use an Android or IOS phone. However, before anything else, make sure that your device has Boingo Passpoint Profile installed or else you wont be able to connect. You can download the Profile by visiting passpoint.boingo.com in your browser. Once you finished downloading the Profile, you can now connect to the WiFi passpoint.

For Android:

  1. Open the settings on your Android device.
  2. Look for the Wi-Fi Settings and tap Advanced or More.
  3. Turn on Passpoint or Hotspot 2.0 under Advanced Settings.
  4. Now, you can connect to the AT&T Wi-Fi Passpoint whenever there is available network.

For IOS devices:

The Passpoint is built in to IOS 10+ devices. You can see it by going to the settings on your phone. On General option go to Profiles. Check if the “Passpoint Secure” Profile is installed, if not then you may proceed downloading and installing it.

AT&T Wi-Fi Passpoint Device Compatibility

AT&T Passpoint Wi-Fi works with any devices that has Hotspot 2.0 feature. If your android device runs in Android 6.0, this will work perfectly for you. For Windows user, it works with Windows 10 perfectly. And for those using IOS devices, it work with the following:

  • iPhone 5 (or higher)
  • iPad 3rd generation (or higher)
  • iPad Air
  • iPad Mini’s
  • Macs running OSX Mavericks (or higher).

Disabling AT&T Wi-Fi Passpoint Auto-Join

If you don’t want to join your device to Wi-Fi passpoint automatically, you can disable it from the settings. To do it:

iOS:

  1. First, you need to turn off Wi-Fi.
  2. Next to the attwifi-Passpoint Wi-Fi you will find the “i” icon, tap it.
  3. Select Forget This Network and Disable Auto-Join.

If you don’t want to be notified joining the hotspot just navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi > Auto-Join Hotspot and select Never or Ask to Join. If you are sure that you will not use the passpoint ever again, you can delete the Passpoint Secure Profile from your phone.

Android:

  1. Go to your mobile Wi-Fi Settings.
  2. Tap the Wi-Fi Passpoint Network, click Forget Network and Disable Auto-connect.
