Step 3: Enter the Login Details
When prompted, enter your username and password. Most Cox routers use admin for username and password for the password. If these don’t work, check your router’s rear panel as the details usually printed on a sticker. You can also check any documentation included in the box. Once you are sure the details are correctly entered in the give fields, click Login.
Step 5: Access Router Settings
Once you entered the correct login details you will be logged in to the router settings. From here, you’ll see the control panel and you can adjust settings like Wi-Fi names, passwords, security options, and more.
How to Change SSID Name and WiFi Password
If you want to protect your WiFi network and kick out unauthorize connections, one of the best things to do is change the WiFi password and SSID name. To do it:
- Log in to the router settings.
- Select Gateway > Connection > WiFi from the left side menu.
- Choose between 2.4 GHz or 5GHz and click Edit.
- Enter your new SSID name in the Network Name SSID field.
- Enter your new WiFi password in the Password field.
- Click Save Settings.

How to Reset a Cox Router
Before you reset your router, remember that the factory data reset will erase all the modification you have made with your router settings. If you are decided to perform it, here are the steps to follow:
- Locate the reset typically on the back of the router.
- Use a a pin or a paper clip to press and hold the button for 10 seconds.
- The light indicators will begin flashing indicating the router is resetting.
- Wait for the router’s network return to its stable state and that’s it.
Cox Router Login Issues and Fixes
During the login process you may face some issues. Here are some of the common ones and their respective fixes:
- Incorrect username and password: You’ll experience this issue when you enter the wrong username and password in the fields given on the login page. You may check the back of the router for the correct details and try logging in again.
- Failure reaching the login page: This happens when your IP address is wrong. Make sure that you are entering the correct IP by checking the back of the router or via command prompt. For windows, type ipconfig and press Enter. You will see your network configuration, including the IPv4 address.
