Synology Router Login

Synology Router Login allows you to set up your wireless router by logging in at http://192.168.1.1 or http://router.synology.com. When you reach the router’s web user interface, you can change the WiFi password, SSID, and other default settings.

How to Log in to Synology Router

If you’re using a Synology router, knowing how to log in is one of those basic things that makes everything else easier. Whether you’re tweaking settings, checking connected devices, or updating firmware, it all starts with accessing the router’s dashboard. Once you’re familiar with the login steps, managing your network becomes a lot more straightforward.

Step 1: Connect to the Router’s Network

Before you start logging in, connect your device to the router by using an Ethernet cable or WiFi. Regardless of what you choose, make sure that the connection is properly set up. For a more accessible option, WiFi is recommended. But if you want a more stable connection, go for the Ethernet cable.

Step 2: Open a Browser

After making sure that your device has a stable internet connection, you may now open the browser on your device. It can be Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Opera. In the address bar, type synology.com or 192.168.1.1, then press Enter. If nothing happens, as if the IP address is not working, check the back of your router to verify the correct IP.

If you have other brands of routers at home, you may use the default IP addresses below:

You can see the default login details on the back of the router. But this is only applicable if you haven’t changed the details previously; otherwise, use the updated information.

Step 4: Access the Router Settings

Once you have provided the correct login details, you will be taken to the web interface where you can find the router settings. It is now your chance to configure any settings that you think can improve and protect your WiFi network. The safety of your network is in your hands now, so make sure to start with the WLAN settings, where you can give your WiFi a new name and create a strong password.

How to Change SSID Name and Password

Changing your WiFi password and SSID name only includes a few steps so you don’t need to be an expert. Here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Log in to the router settings.
  2. On the dashboard, select Wireless.
  3. Enter your new WiFi Name in the Name (SSID) field.
  4. Enter your new password in the Password field.
  5. Click Apply.

Resetting Your Synology Router

One of the common issues you may encounter during the login process is incorrect username and password. While you can check the back of the router for the default login details, it only applies to those who havent changed the defaults in the past. If you have forgotten the updated login details, you may need to reset your router. To do it:

  1. Locate the reset button on the back of the router.
  2. Using a pin or any pointed object, press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds then let go.
  3. If your Synology router has indicator lights, you will notice that they will flash indicating that the router is resetting.
  4. When you see the indicator lights are stable, that means the router has been successfully reset.
