Zyxel router login allows you to reach the web user interface of the router. When you log in at http://192.168.1.1, you can manage and configure the basic, default, and advanced settings of your router, including SSID name and Wi-Fi password.
How to Log in to a Zyxel Router
Configuring the router settings is crucial in protecting your Wi-Fi network. You can do this by logging in to your router. If you have been thinking of doing this but don’t know how to start, here are the steps to guide you:
Step 1: Connect your Device to the Router
When accessing your Zyxel router, start by ensuring a stable connection between your device and the router. It’s crucial to be on the same network to log in successfully. You can use an Ethernet cable or a wireless network, depending on your preferences.

Step 2: Open a Browser
Open a web browser and enter the default IP address of the router in the address bar (often “192.168.1.1” or “192.168.0.1”). You’ll then reach the router login page where you can enter your credentials.

Step 3: Enter your Login Credentials
After accessing the IP address on your browser, you will be taken to the login page where you need to enter your default login details. Zyxel routers typically come with default login credentials, which are often “admin,” and the password can vary but is commonly “1234” or “admin.” Once provided in the fields given, click Login.

For other default IP addresses, router passwords, and usernames for Zyxel routers, you may refer to the table below:
| IP address | Username | Password |
|---|---|---|
| 192.168.1.1 | admin admin 1234 admin | 1234 (leave it blank) admin admin |
| 192.168.200.1 | (leave it blank) | admin |
Step 4: Access the Router Settings
After a successful login, you will be redirected to the router’s admin panel. You can now manage the settings of your router for an enhanced and improved Wi-Fi network. You may start changing your Wi-Fi password and SSID name in order to protect your Wi-Fi network. Aside from these basic settings, you may also configure advanced settings such as Guest Network, Parental Control, and Wi-Fi channels.

Note: The login steps can be applied to Zyxel PMG 5617-R20B, so if the illustration above doesn’t look the same on your end, it’s totally fine.
How to Change SSID Name and Wi-Fi Password
One of the important settings of your router that you need to configure is the wireless settings. This is because once you receive your router, it has default login details that anyone can search online. This is risky, especially today with lots of hackers scattered everywhere looking for a chance to steal anyone’s information. To make your network safe, you have to change the WiFi password and SSID name with these easy steps:
For Zyxel VMG Series:
- On the admin panel, select Wireless
- Choose the band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) you want to change the SSID name and password.
- In the Wireless Network Name field, enter your new SSID name.
- Scroll down and uncheck the Generate password automatically to be able to change the Wi-Fi password.
- In the Password field, enter your new Wi-Fi password.
- Click Apply.

Resetting your Zyxel Router
If you encounter issues with your Zyxel router, do not fret because you can fix them just by resetting it to factory default settings. Please note that any changes you have made to the router will be removed, and all the settings will be set to default. If you are ready to reset your router, here are the steps you can follow:
- Look for the reset button on the back of your router.
- When found, press and hold it for 20 seconds using a SIM card pin or any pointed object.
- After 20 seconds, let go of the button and place it on a proper and flat surface.
- Wait for all the LED indicator lights to switch on and get stable.

Troubleshooting Zyxel Login Issues
Encountering access issues when trying to log into your Zyxel router can be frustrating, but can often be resolved with simple troubleshooting steps. Here are the issues you may face and how you can fix them:
- Incorrect login details: If you have forgotten your password or username, you won’t be able to log in to your router, and you will be prompted that you have entered incorrect details. You can check the back of the router for the default login credentials and try looking again. But if you have changed them already in the past, the default details will not work, and the only thing you can do is reset your router to factory default settings.
- Failure to load the page: This issue occurs when the IP address you enter is wrong. You can also check the back of the router for the default IP address or search for it online.
- IP conflicts: This happens when there are many devices using the same IP address. To fix this issue, restart all the devices so they can have different IP addresses.
- Too many login attempts: You’ll face this issue when you enter the wrong login details on the login page multiple times. Just wait until the lock time passes and try logging in again. If you can’t remember your password, resetting the
router will be needed.
